At the beginning I was a bit annoyed by the lack of parks in the game but again the community created mods solved that for me basically you can design yourself those empty areas to parks by placing a pedestrial road there for accessing the park-building and then smaller paths, trees etc.
Two timelapses here: video 1 and video 2. There are new community created maps uploaded on weekly basis to the workshop and they are very easily installed to your game. The maps are massive in skyliness if you so desire as you can unlock all those areas at once. Sadly at the moment you don't have much influence on that in skyliness: upon starting your city you can choose either a modern or European style buildings, then there are mods that adds a tropical style, for example (AFAIK cannot be changed during an on-going game). Oh right, I had already forgotten that those titles allowed you to have an architecturial style of your choosing in districts.
